What You Will Do:
Clean, wrap, sterilize, store, and distribute equipment, supplies, instruments, and endoscopes used in patient care.
Assist area clinical staff by using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation and procedures to prepare for surgical cases.
Provide technical guidance to others involved in the assembly of instrumentation and preparation of case carts.
Train team members on various skills and tasks.
Act as a resource or mentor for the team and other staff.
Provide functional guidance to the team and assist the Manager with scheduling, training, and inventory duties.
Candidates will only be considered if they have 2 active CRCST/CSPDT/CFER national certificates and/or are Certified Surgical Technologists. No provisional certifications will be accepted.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Requires one national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (e.g., CIS, CSIP, CFER, CST, CHMM, CHL).
Requires 24 CE credits annually focused on information and advancement related to the CS field and of a technical nature.
Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.
Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrates expert knowledge and skills necessary to function as a Tech III.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
Advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
Basic computer skills.
Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.
