The FP&A Product Owner is responsible for overseeing the technical architecture, integrations, security, and system governance of our FP&A systems and tools, ensuring they operate efficiently and align with organizational priorities. This role provides technical oversight and guidance, working closely with the School Finance Team and vendor professional services teams to execute solutions that enhance system performance and scalability. The FP&A Product Owner develops and maintains financial models, reports, and analysis tools to improve our service delivery to schools.
As the primary FP&A System (Vena Solutions) technical administrator and contact, they manage vendor relationships, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive the Vena technical roadmap to optimize workflows and implement new features. By ensuring a secure, well-integrated, and high-performing Vena environment, this role supports the organization’s long-term business goals and school financial reporting functions.
Essential Functions:
Technical Oversight & Governance
Provide technical leadership on Vena’s architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and best practices.
Evaluate and implement new Vena features to improve efficiency and functionality.
Integration & System Management
Oversee and provide technical guidance on FP&A system and tool integrations—including accounting systems and database applications—leveraging internal teams and vendor support services.
Provide technical support for cross-team projects with accounting platform and support teams on system integration, product enhancements, updates, and tool development.
Serve as the escalation point for troubleshooting technical issues and optimizing system performance.
Maintain technical and administrator-level product documentation.
Lead FP&A system administration, ensuring appropriate user access controls and setup for new clients and regions.
Act as the primary contact for vendor and professional services, managing support and implementation efforts.
Ensure product technical strategies align with organizational goals.
Oversee vendor contract execution, performance, and SLAs.
Facilitate collaboration among FP&A superusers, end-users, and technical teams.
Technical Roadmap & Continuous Improvement
Own and drive the FP&A system technical roadmap, focusing on optimization, efficiency, and school finance needs.
Lead planning and execution of upgrades, enhancements, and new modules.
Monitor vendor release cycles and recommend updates.
Attend vendor conferences and training sessions.
Identify automation and process improvement opportunities.
Data Modeling & Reporting Solutions
Design and implement enhancements to Vena data models and reports.
Develop and maintain reporting tools using advanced Microsoft applications like PowerBI and PowerQuery.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years in financial planning and analysis, with at least 2 years administering FP&A software; experience with Vena Solutions is a major plus.
Experience leading technical projects such as upgrades, data model design, and optimization.
Strong understanding of FP&A data management.
Experience with accounting platform integrations.
Advanced Excel skills, including charts, VBA, and PowerQuery.
Expertise in financial modeling and analysis.
Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reporting.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and results-oriented mindset.
