Position Overview
The Associate Medical Director of Anesthesiology will assist the Medical Director in overseeing a department of more than 400 physicians and advanced practitioners delivering high-quality anesthetic care across 150 daily sites within the health system. This role integrates clinical leadership, program development, education, research, and faculty development to ensure the department functions as a vital part of an integrated multi-specialty group practice across multiple hospitals and sites. Additionally, the Associate Medical Director will serve as Program Director for the ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency program, leading education and training of future anesthesiologists while fostering faculty development, mentoring, and leadership growth. Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement departmental strategic plans aligned with the health systems mission. Standardize clinical workflows and evidence-based practices to improve efficiency and patient outcomes. Engage with surgical and hospital leadership to enhance anesthesia services. Identify and lead process improvement initiatives promoting a high-reliability culture. Enhance patient experience, safety, and care quality. Work with the Quality team to implement protocols reducing care variation. Support financial stewardship and resource management. Residency Program Director (application pending)
Lead all aspects of the ACGME application and residency program compliance. Develop curriculum, educational experiences, and assessment methods. Foster a culture of learning, mentorship, and professional development. Support faculty in evidence-based teaching strategies. Coordinate with accrediting bodies to maintain program excellence. Faculty Development, Research, & Mentorship
Promote faculty development and career growth. Support mentorship programs to cultivate leadership. Encourage participation in research and scholarly activities. Workforce Planning & Engagement
Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies. Foster a supportive, inclusive culture within the group practice. Support faculty well-being initiatives. Financial & Operational Management
Assist in resource management, financial planning, and operational strategies. Maintain sound management and fiscal responsibility. Clinical Responsibilities
Remain active in clinical practice, providing patient-centered anesthesia care. Lead by example in clinical excellence, professionalism, and safety. Promote efficient use of clinical resources to optimize patient flow and reduce delays. Reporting Structure & Key Relationships
Reports to the Medical Director of Anesthesiology. Works closely with departmental leadership, hospital executives, and system senior leaders. Qualifications
Board-certified anesthesiologist with clinical and administrative experience. Experience in residency program leadership, GME, and academic medicine. Completion of anesthesiology residency/fellowship. Masters in Business Administration preferred. Company Overview
