LC State invites applications for the position of Program Director of Surgical Technology.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $65,000 - $70,000

Degree Required:

Associate degree awarded and concentrated in surgical technology by an institution that is accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.

Required Qualifications: Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) Have a minimum total of five (5) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten (10) years Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design/development, and program planning Possess experience/training as an educator Utilize Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access database The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to work autonomously within a collaborative and dynamic faculty group Idaho State CTE teaching certification or ability to obtain within 3 years.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree from a nationally accredited institution Experience with program accreditation Experience teaching in a clinical lab setting Experience recruiting, advising, and mentoring students Demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop strong internal and external partnerships Demonstrated ability to provide direction and oversight to staff/students/student workers

Responsibilities:

The Program Director for the Surgical Technology program is a 12-month full-time non-tenure track professional staff member who will manage all aspects of the Surgical Technology program. The Program Director must be responsible for all aspects of the program, including but not limited to: 1) Administration, organization, supervision of the program; and 2) Continuous quality review and improvement of the program; and 3) Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development

The Program Director should pursue ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade his/her professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities. The Program Director should participate in and ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.

The Program Director manages all clinical lab functions, including inventory management (monitoring and ordering of all student supplies), set-up for all lab sessions, and is an instructor for the didactic and lab courses needed for Surgical Technology program completion. This position sets up, maintains, and monitors all equipment and testing activities. This person will oversee and coordinate schedules with a clinical coordinator, possible adjunct instructors, and student lab workers. This position will plan, evaluate, budget, and assist in the selection of adjunct faculty and staff for the Surgical Technology program. Maintain CAAHEP Surgical Technology accreditation. Maintain professional development requirements. Coordinate the schedule of Surgical Technology program offerings. Participate in the Surgical Technology Technical Advisory Committee, attend meetings, and prepare and submit appropriate CTE reports. Maintain CTE instructor certification requirements.

Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
