Marketing Director | Freelance Editor/Developmental Editor Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (Cincinnati, Ohio) seeks an analytical, creative, and detail-oriented Digital Marketing Manager to oversee and create engaging content that drives audience growth, deepens patron loyalty, and supports revenue objectives across the organization. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting annual salary range of $45,000 to $50,000. The Digital Marketing Manager is eligible for benefits (medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid time off). Position Summary As a key member of the marketing and communications team, the Digital Marketing Manager plays a vital role in shaping and promoting ETC’s public narrative. This position focuses on executing strategies in email marketing, web content, SEO/SEM, analytics, and social media to drive audience growth and retention. Location and Schedule This is an in-person position at 1127 Vine Street in Cincinnati, OH, with occasional opportunities for remote work. Base work schedule is during business hours (9 am–5 pm, Mon–Fri); however, work hours for this role will sometimes vary based on the dynamic schedule of a theater, particularly as it applies to performance-related duties. Roles and Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to grow awareness, engagement, and conversions for productions, classes, donations, and events. Serve as the primary liaison with ETC’s digital marketing agency, Capacity Interactive (CI), to plan, optimize, and evaluate paid advertising campaigns. Collaborate across departments to plan and publish content across digital platforms. Monitor and analyze digital marketing metrics, using GA4 and CI dashboards to track data and provide actionable insights. Manage the digital content calendar and coordinate approvals for copy and graphics. Research trends and best practices in digital marketing and recommend improvements. Train and work with all staff and teams utilizing digital channels to optimize strategies, ensure consistency, and guide efforts. Social Media and Email Marketing Oversee ETC’s email marketing program, from campaign planning to content creation, scheduling, testing, and performance analysis. Craft engaging email content to nurture leads, retain patrons, and drive conversions using data-driven insights, dynamic content, and A/B testing. Write engaging social media copy tailored to each platform; monitor engagement and respond to patrons. Stay current on best practices for copy, image specs, and platform requirements. Support budget planning and tracking for digital marketing initiatives. Website Management Serve as department lead on website management, including page creation, updates, and iterative improvements. Optimize website performance using SEO, Google Analytics, and A/B testing. Maintain and improve website and online ticketing functionalities. Marketing Support Contribute to and assist with marketing plans, budgets, project management, and scheduling as assigned. Represent ETC at events, conferences, and community gatherings. Attend department meetings and share relevant updates to the team. Physical Demands This position requires use of standard office equipment and may occasionally require local travel to community events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 3–4 years of digital marketing experience, ideally within the nonprofit or arts sector. Strong writing and communication skills with an ability to craft compelling marketing language. Solid understanding of digital best practices, including social media, SEO/SEM, display advertising, Google Analytics, and A/B testing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and social scheduling tools. Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and social media monitoring tools is highly desirable. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and CRM platforms is a plus. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and problem-solve with initiative. Eagerness to learn new technologies, support team members, and problem-solve with minimal supervision. Knowledge of the local arts community and a passion for theatre are preferred. Access to reliable transportation is strongly preferred.
