Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator / Material Handler is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other equipment to unload, move, stage, and load materials within the warehouse and yard. This role supports production efficiency by handling materials for fabrication, finishing, and shipping, while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping policies
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
The Heavy Equipment Operator / Material Handler is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other equipment to unload, move, stage, and load materials within the warehouse and yard. This role supports production efficiency by handling materials for fabrication, finishing, and shipping, while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping policies

Employees must be able to bend a non-specific number of times per hour and twist their bodies from side to side. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; automated equipment, airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and moving fork trucks. - Unload materials from vendor trucks and verify received items against packing slips for accuracy and quality.
- Stage materials for fabrication teams in accordance with production procedures.
- Move fabricated units to finishing areas and transfer finished units to designated yard areas.
- Load completed units onto trucks for customer shipments or transfers to other locations; perform washing/touch-up as needed.
- Inspect trucks, forklifts, and related equipment daily using pre-shift checklists to ensure proper maintenance and operability.
- Remove pallets and packing materials from production areas and dispose of them properly.
- Adhere to housekeeping policies to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Collaborate closely with production personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Monitor work areas for potential safety hazards and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and production needs
