We’re looking for a Reliability Engineer to help ensure our devices are built to last. You’ll work hands-on to test, stress, and push our products to their limits, identifying potential points of failure before our customers ever encounter them. This role is key to making sure OtO devices stand up to the real world, season after season.
Responsibilities
This in-person role based in Tucson, Arizona provides direct, hands-on access to our test labs and hardware systems. You’ll work closely with the engineering team at OtO HQ in Toronto through regular on-site visits and occasionally travel to China to support our suppliers and manufacturing operations. Own reliability testing across OtO’s full product line, including mechanics, electronics, fluidics, and enclosures
Design and run lifecycle, thermal, ingress, vibration, UV, and long-term stress tests
Build and operate test machinery and fixtures that simulate real-world usage and extreme conditions based on field data
Partner with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and product teams to influence design decisions early in the process
Investigate failures and perform root cause analysis using tools like FMEA, Weibull, and fault tree methods
Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to validate part and system reliability from production through to deployment
Develop and maintain documentation and internal standards to scale testing and validation across programs
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience
3+ years in a reliability, test, or quality-focused product and hardware role
Familiarity with FMEA, root cause analysis, statistical methods, and reliability modeling
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and manufacturing teams
A builder’s mindset with a focus on real-world performance, not just lab results
Desired Qualifications
Experience running and analyzing structured reliability tests (thermal cycling, vibration, water ingress, UV, etc.)
Strong hands-on skills in building test rigs, using lab tools, and working with environmental chambers and data loggers
