Accounting Manager Job at Creative Financial Staffing (CFS) in Michigan City

Overview Location: Michigan City, IN (Fully Onsite) Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 This range is provided by Creative Financial Staffing (CFS). Base pay range Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial functions. Manage multi-state tax and sales tax compliance for ~20 states, including filings, audits, and reconciliations. Direct the fixed assets process, determining appropriate capitalization versus expense treatment in line with GAAP. Lead month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Leverage NetSuite ERP to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve reporting capabilities. Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and operational teams, providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making. Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Proven expertise in multi-state tax and sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Strong background in fixed assets accounting with the ability to apply proper capitalization policies. Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP (required). Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the confidence to present financial insights and admit mistakes with professionalism. High level of integrity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
