Overview We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual to join our marketing team as a Graphic Designer III. The graphic designer will specialize in the development of compelling visual content for proposal and business development efforts. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and has a passion for turning complex information into visually engaging and brand-consistent designs that help tell the Merrick story. The graphic designer will collaborate closely with proposal coordinators, designers, and subject matter experts to create original content for proposal documents, presentations, and other pursuit materials. Under the supervision of the creative manager, you’ll deliver visuals that help communicate the right message, appeal to our audiences, boost brand awareness, and win new work.
Typical pay hourly range for this position is $36.35 - $47.02. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
What You’ll Do Collaborate with the proposal team, the marketing & communications team, and subject matter experts to design graphics that enhance proposal documents, presentations, and other pursuit materials.
Stretch the creative boundaries within a branded template and translate concepts and requirements into design.
Create tailored layouts, infographics, covers, and other design assets that align with brand standards and effectively communicate key messages.
Translate technical and strategic content into visually compelling formats that support storytelling and win themes.
Ensure consistency in visual identity across all proposal materials.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Support the development and organization of reusable design assets and templates for future pursuits.
Stay current with design trends and tools to continuously improve proposal aesthetics and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field
5+ years of experience in graphic design, preferably in a proposal or business development environment
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word)
Eye for design details, such as typography, alignment, hierarchy, etc.
Experience in graphic design fundamentals and data visualization
Strong creative, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Excellent listening and communication skills
Ability to professionally give and receive constructive criticism and input
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical and proposal staff to meet milestones
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a deadline-driven environment
Portfolio must include examples of multi-page document layout, infographics, and branding work
Desired Qualifications Familiarity with proposal processes (e.g., RFPs, RFQs) is a plus.
Experience in AEC, professional services, or government contracting industries.
Knowledge of proposal automation tools or content management systems.
Basic understanding of messaging strategy with the ability to translate into graphics.
