This role operates within a collaborative model, including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff caring for hospital medicine patients at Ochsner Medical Center. The position reports to the Medical Director or an approved staff physician and collaborates with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementing, and evaluating medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.

Education
Required – Master’s degree in Nursing Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduation from an approved Physician Assistant Training Program. Work Experience
Required – None Preferred – 3 years of related experience Certifications
Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) BCLS / ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association Eligible for prescriptive authority as per state regulations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with computer skills, including data entry and retrieval Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Proficiency with Windows applications and role-specific software Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of AP provider policies and protocols Reliable transportation for travel between facilities Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call Job Duties
Deliver patient care using approved medical practices Provide care considering physical, psycho/social, educational, and safety criteria appropriate to patient age Maintain inquiry into medical practices and patient outcomes; may develop research methodologies Educate patients, families, staff, and community Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and permissions Perform other related duties as required The above is a general overview; duties may be added or amended as needed.
