Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Electronics)

Overview Astranis is operating five satellites in orbit with additional launches planned, servicing contracts worth over $1 billion and backed by investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock and Fidelity.
Responsibilities
Onboard and qualify new suppliers – travel required to production sites.
Qualify new processes and products.
Develop incoming inspection strategies and author incoming inspection procedures.
Support product development & DFx reviews by representing manufacturing and quality.
Lead non‑conformances and problem‑solving efforts to closure.
Maintain documentation and traceability of electronics manufacturing.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
10+ years of experience as Manufacturing, Quality or Product Engineer, 5+ years working closely with electronics manufacturing (EEE components, harnesses, PCB or PCBA).
Familiar with IPC‑A‑600, 610, 620 Class 3 standards, IPC‑J‑STD‑001 and/or MIL‑STD.
Experience in production floor bringing up new products, production processes, and quality inspections.
Ability to author Astranis technical requirements (qualification and acceptance procedures, addendums, specifications) and provide feedback to the Electrical Engineering team’s designs.
Ability to maintain supplier scorecards, implement department metrics and support cross‑functional teams.
Ability to sell Astranis image and mission across our existing supply chain and potential new commercial partners.
Bonus
Experience working under ISO/TS 61949, AS9100, or ISO 9001.
Familiar with electronics supply chain.
Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.
Familiar with electronics secondary processing (polymeric coating, cleaning, manual soldering, tinning, de‑golding).
Hands‑on experience reworking electronics, doing touchups, or performing testing and inspection.
Familiar with component up‑screening, TID and HDR testing.
Compensation Base Salary $130,000—$170,000 USD. Astranis includes equity, robust benefits (high quality company‑subsidized healthcare, disability, life insurance, flexible PTO, 401(k), free on‑site catered meals).
