Machine Learning Engineer Graduate, Trust and Safety, USDS - 2025 Start (MS) Our Trust and Safety engineering team builds machine learning models and systems to identify and defend against internet abuse and fraud on TikTok. We protect billions of users and publishers globally and scale state‑of‑the‑art ML technologies to improve user experience.

Responsibilities

Design and develop advanced machine learning solutions for trust and safety.

Build highly scalable classifiers, predictive models, and algorithms in big data mining, computer vision, NLP and other domains.

Implement model pipelines and deploy services at scale with engineering teams.

Collaborate with product teams to define objectives and improve trust and safety strategy.

Work with data scientists to understand and uncover data patterns.

Qualifications

Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields.

Graduate with a background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.

Thorough understanding of data structures and algorithms, with excellent problem‑solving ability.

Deep understanding of machine learning, statistics, scaling distributed computing, and big data engineering.

Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications (preferred).

Internship experience or research experience, especially in natural language processing, fraud detection, or responsible AI, integrity, or trust and safety (preferred).

Curiosity toward new technologies and entrepreneurship (preferred).

High levels of creativity and quick problem‑solving capabilities (preferred).

Hybrid work schedule: employees are expected to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager or department.

Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $118,657 - $187,200 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that may include discretionary bonuses, restricted stock units, and other benefits. Employees have day‑one access to medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
