Apply to join Boston Medical Center as a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) for evenings M-F. The CAC provides application assistance and eligibility screening for patients and beneficiaries of qualified health plans and affordability programs.
Position Summary
The Certified Application Counselor interviews, assesses, and screens patients for eligibility for qualified health plans. The CAC tracks and processes accurate, complete, and timely applications in accordance with BMC billing practices and consistent with the Certified Application Counselor Policy Requirements.
Responsibilities
Interview and assess patients for eligibility for qualified health plans.
Screen applicants and beneficiaries of qualified health plans and affordability programs including MassHealth and Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) programs.
Track and process accurate, complete, and timely applications with regard to BMC billing practices and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health plan eligibility rules and benefits programs.
Provide high-quality customer service and follow through on application status updates.
Qualifications
High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Bilingual and hospital experience strongly preferred.
Must be extremely organized, able to prioritize and make independent decisions.
Strong problem resolution skills and ability to handle a heavy caseload.
Computer competency with keyboard and mouse; excellent customer service skills.
Must receive training and be certified as a Certified Application Counselor within 45 days of employment.
Education and Certifications
Bilingual and hospital experience strongly preferred. Individual must receive training and be certified as a Certified Application Counselor within 45 days of employment.
