About The Role The Safety Operation's team's mission is to keep Uber's customers safe, inspire trust in everything we do, and drive accountability across Uber & our industry. As the Head of Personal Safety Operations, you’ll join Uber’s global safety team and set the company’s central strategy for mitigating interpersonal conflict risk in our Mobility and Delivery businesses.

This role will be a driving force behind the industry-leading safety programs, policies, and customer support initiatives that help prevent safety incidents. You will partner directly with senior leadership across functions and geographies to implement and scale initiatives, align priorities with overall safety strategy, and partner with product teams to drive the personal safety product roadmap.

We’re looking for someone with strong data analysis skills, excellent communication, extensive partner and project management experience, the ability to shift between high‑level strategy and tactical execution, and a results‑oriented attitude. You should thrive in an “all hands on deck” environment, love solving problems, and be passionate about the safety of people and the cities in which we operate.

What You’ll Do

Develop a strategic plan and roadmap for personal safety, defining risks, establishing success criteria, and mapping existing programs, products, and processes that mitigate those risks.

Bring cohesion to the portfolio of programs, products, and processes worldwide that address interpersonal safety risks.

Work closely with global and regional counterparts across APAC, EMEA, LatAm, and the US & Canada, holding partners accountable to deliverables.

Provide subject‑matter expertise and engage with leaders across Uber to drive innovation to inform the safety product roadmap, policies, programs, and protocols.

Provide guidance on sophisticated, high‑visibility cases and projects, adapting and realigning priorities in response to emergent needs.

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to build evidence‑based products supported by policies that your team develops.

Develop and support the launch of communication campaigns, educational content, strategic partnerships, and other initiatives intended to reduce interpersonal conflict.

Develop clear scorecards, metrics, and dashboards for personal safety.

Basic Qualifications

7+ years of work experience in personal safety, operations, or leading risk mitigation programs.

Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading teams.

Strong program and project management skills with a focus on KPI setting and tracking.

Experience extracting insights from data, visualizing findings, and summarizing takeaways.

Big‑picture thinker, strategic leader, and strong executor who is detail‑ and data‑oriented.

Brings an intersectional lens and understands how overlapping identities impact people’s perception and experience of safety.

Experience collaborating with advocate groups, survivor organizations, and other personal safety organizations internationally.

Ability to work with remote teams and across time zones to develop strategies and cultivate a cohesive and creative work environment.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to express complex issues using clear language and prioritize while managing multiple priorities.

Experience working with senior leaders and executives on high‑impact projects and deliverables.

Comfortable influencing discussions at the highest levels and a proven ability to find common ground and align cross‑functional partners and teams with conflicting agendas.

Compensation & Benefits Pay & Benefits:

Salary range: $167,000 – $186,000 (Chicago, IL, United States)

Salary range: $186,000 – $207,000 (New York, NY, United States)

Salary range: $149,000 – $165,500 (Phoenix, AZ, United States)

Salary range: $186,000 – $207,000 (San Francisco, CA, United States)

Salary range: $167,000 – $186,000 (Seattle, WA, United States)

Salary range: $186,000 – $207,000 (Washington, DC, United States)
