Overview Speechify’s Android app is the most‑used text‑to‑speech app in the Play Store. This role supports a growing user base and drives new features that delight millions of users.
Responsibilities
Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high‑quality user experiences.
Shape the future of our Android team by influencing architecture and best practices.
Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
Participate in cross‑team discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering.
Review pull requests and support teammates.
Handle critical issues and cope with unexpected challenges.
Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
Qualifications
5+ years of software engineering experience.
Familiarity with Android components and experience building an Android app.
Product design intuition and user empathy.
Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
Understanding of the importance of tests and how to write them.
Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Jetpack Compose.
Excellent communication skills.
Continuous feedback from leaders and self‑drive to improve the app and codebase.
Bonus
Open‑source contributions in Android.
Experience with iOS, Web, or Node.js.
