Director IT Digital Planning and SAP COE This role will lead our multi-year global SAP S/4HANA program as well as drive an enterprise culture shift toward a digital-first, AI-first, data-driven culture. You will help evolve the IT landscape to support seamless end-to-end business processes and efficient, resilient, and agile operations aligned with industry best practices to respond swiftly to market changes and disruptions while maintaining high standards of quality and sustainability. You will inspire a high-performing global IT team to deliver continuous business value.

Base pay range $200,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

SAP S/4HANA ERP Transformation: Partner with the CIO and VP Transformation to lead the technology transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, leveraging RISE with SAP to modernize ERP systems and processes, creating substantial business value.

Build deep, trusted relationships with business leaders across core ERP functional areas (Order Management, Supply Chain, Planning, Finance, Procurement) and provide ERP and technology recommendations to maximize value.

Lead SAP Platform team, IT Digital Partners, and Global Process Owners; align roadmaps with business objectives; stay informed on SAP roadmap and emerging technologies; evolve practices, standards, and governance.

Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration; establish Global IT as a strategic partner and change catalyst; promote outside-in thinking leveraging SAP and industry experience.

Design and implement modern SAP architectures to enhance analytics, AI capabilities, hardware connectivity, edge integrations, and partner integrations; maintain a secure, compliant, scalable SAP platform upgradable to latest SAP investments.

Oversee Legacy SAP ECC operations (BAU) including HA/DR, data retention, integrations (EDI), and archiving; plan developments for legacy needs while S/4HANA is implemented.

Establish comprehensive governance, risk, and compliance frameworks using SAP and approved tools; simplify governance via AI/automation and coordinate with internal and external audits.

Drive Cloud Transformation from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA using RISE with SAP; optimize cloud usage and leverage FinOps to manage SAP cloud costs.

Advance automation: expand Tricentis Testing, RPA, AI/Agentic AI/GenAI/Joule, and other innovations to accelerate business agility.

Ensure compliance with industry lifecycle practices (e.g., 21 CFR parts 11/820, ISO 13485) and oversee GxP validation; maintain audit readiness and proper access controls, including PHI/PII requirements.

Lead Digital Business Partner discussions with stakeholders to align technology with business strategies and develop multi-year roadmaps.

Own SAP-related budgets and contracts; forecast, monitor, and report financial performance; adapt SAP RISE agreements as SAP offerings evolve.

Essential Functions

Architectural and Integration Experience: Design scalable SAP Cloud Platforms; integrate with edge systems (3PL, WMS, EDI partners), APIs, microservices, and reusable assets; manage 3rd party partnerships.

Technology Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of AI/Agentic AI, SAP Activate, ERP transformation frameworks, data harmonization, cloud strategies, and development of PaaS/SaaS/COTB tools; experience with human-centric design.

Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead technically strong teams, drive enterprise transformation, and foster digital literacy and cultural change.

Governance: Establish and evolve global standards for a PaaS/SaaS landscape.

People: Develop talent and evolve the organization toward a product/platform IT operating model with agile delivery of the Digital Roadmap.

Strategic Thinking and Analytical Skills: Translate business objectives into long-term technology strategies with strong problem-solving abilities.

Collaboration and Communication: Influence senior leaders and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences; excellent cross-functional collaboration.

Industry Experience: Experience in life sciences or related highly regulated industries with executive leadership in SAP operations or technology.

Requirements

15+ years in IT, including at least 10 years in SAP implementation roles and 5 years in S/4HANA and/or RISE with SAP.

Bachelor's degree or higher in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or related field; MBA or MSc preferred.

Proven track record delivering SAP upgrade and implementation strategies across global organizations.

Industry visibility and thought leadership; Big 4 consulting experience a plus.

Advanced understanding of SAP platforms, edge systems, integration approaches, ERP frameworks, digital platforms, and cloud platforms for data modernization.

Advanced knowledge of SDLC (Waterfall, Agile, Scrumfall), DevOps, Change & Release Management, and FinOps.

Experience leading digital transformation through SAP, analytics, AI, and GenAI.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Experience with data governance and data literacy programs; managing executive relationships and a data-first mindset.

Ability to travel ~25% as needed.

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge

Formal SAP S/4HANA education/training and experience.

Experience driving digitally enabled programs in Finance, Planning, OTC, and Supply Chain (e.g., Global Supply/Demand Planning, WMS, Transportation Management, ERP optimization).

Working knowledge of SAP ecosystem, JP/Joule, BTP, change & release management, and upgrade strategies.

Experience with CSV in medical device/pharmaceutical contexts.

Organizational Change Management experience; experience with Dell Boomi, Azure, and DevOps is a plus.

Global work experience and ability to operate across borders.
