Job Summary
The Digital Workplace Services Architect designs, develops, and maintains a state‑of‑the‑art digital workplace services system for the University. The Architect collaborates with cross‑functional teams to evaluate business requirements, design digital workplace solutions, and oversee the implementation and maintenance of digital workplace systems and tools. The Architect acts as a visionary for the University's digital workplace vision and goals.
Department Description University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading academic health organization. Infrastructure Services (IS) is the backbone of the technological infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to the University community. The Digital Workplace Services team within Infrastructure Services manages integrated communications, collaboration, audio‑visual systems, telephony, voicemail, audiovisual technology, video conferencing, and collaboration platforms.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training in computer science, information systems, or related fields.
9 to 11+ years of experience in information technology, digital workplace services, audio‑visual services, software engineering, or related fields.
Certifications:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent
AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into long‑term architecture solutions.
In‑depth understanding of digital workplace systems and infrastructure, and related network protocols, hardware, software, and procedures.
Experience architecting scalable, diverse, and complex networks; expert understanding of server architecture, system administration, and security; experience working with an SDLC model.
Ability to collaborate across a large, diverse organization and effectively communicate or negotiate with others.
Experience working in a project‑based environment, reporting on project status, evaluating project risks, and escalating project issues; experience with risk analysis frameworks; knowledge of information management.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non‑technical personnel at various levels in the University.
Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues, stakeholders, and customers; self‑motivated and works independently and as part of a team; able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Advanced problem‑solving skills; ability to uncover root of difficult problems and scope solutions based on available resources and timelines.
Able to think creatively and introduce innovations such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes; thrives in an ever‑changing, fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or related fields.
Ability to create presentation materials, generate reports, and present to appropriate stakeholders and leadership; ability to explain advanced concepts to engineers, peers, and leadership.
License/Certification
Certifications:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent
AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist or equivalent
