Robotics Software Engineer (Scientific Physical AI)

About The Role Our client is building a Scientific Physical AI platform using AI, robotics, and biology to accelerate life science research with the ultimate goal of eradicating disease. Their platform helps scientists scale lab work to generate orders of magnitude more data for drug discovery and for training biology foundation models. They have raised $11 million and operate with a fast-moving, mission-driven team from companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink.
In This Role, You Will
Develop robotic solutions to manipulate and control biology tools designed for humans
Develop and implement motion planning algorithms to avoid collisions in complex and dynamic lab environments
Use computer vision to work with consumables and equipment used by human scientists
Integrate, test, and debug software solutions in simulation and on physical robots
Work directly with partner scientists at customer labs to understand pain points, ideate creative solutions, and guide implementation and deployment
Identify opportunities for simplification and design for scalability
Requirements
4+ years of experience designing and building algorithms for robotics systems
Proficient in Python
Experience or familiarity with robot arm manipulators
Relevant research or work experience in one or more of the following: motion planning and trajectory optimization, kinematics and dynamics, and control. (Robotics manipulation experience is highly valued)
Experience with software engineering tools and best practices in production (a "hacker's mindset" is valued)
A willingness to wear many hats and a flexible attitude toward responsibilities
Benefits
Salary: $140K - $170K (Based on experience and qualifications)
