Overview
Alation is actively seeking a Senior Tax Manager to spearhead our vital tax function. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this is a critical role supporting our operations across 10 countries. The role involves managing and coordinating all corporate and indirect tax filings, documentation, compliance, and strategic projects with our service providers. What You'll Be Doing
Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns in a timely manner. Own tax provision and financial statement disclosure process. Partner with key strategic partners in Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Equity administration to achieve key tax objectives. Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate Sales and Use tax returns for multi-state and remit taxes to taxing jurisdictions on a timely basis using AvaTax via Avalara. Manage the Company’s international VAT and other indirect tax exposure and oversee compliance activities. Manage other miscellaneous tax filings, such as annual Delaware Franchise Taxes, Washington State Occupancy tax, Ohio CAT, Oregon CAT, and other local municipal business taxes. Reconcile Sales and Use tax accounts, along with follow up on outstanding open issues. Update GL data related to tax accounts, such as accruals and prepayments. Respond to tax notices and oversee the tax audit process. Keep the company in compliance with required reporting across various jurisdictions, such as the US Department of Commerce R&D Survey. Assist in other tax compliance matters and tax projects as needed, such as tax planning, legal entity structure, mergers and acquisitions, and new entity formation. Research tax regulations and tax rules to support projects and initiatives. Participate in other ad hoc projects, as necessary. You Should Have
7+ years of experience in corporate tax issues in the B2B software and SaaS industry. Multi-State Sales and Use Tax accounting experience is highly desired. Big-4 experience is desired, and prior private and public company experience, including exposure to international tax planning issues, is highly desirable. Strong understanding of accounting for income tax provisions under ASC 740, familiarity with federal, state, and international income tax concepts. Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or Finance, and CPA, CPA equivalent, Masters in Tax, or JD required. Experience in NetSuite and Avalara is desirable, including experience with process automation. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Compensation
Base pay range : $137,849.00/yr - $186,096.00/yr The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty and training.
