The Tennessee Attorney General’s Office is a full-service law firm, representing the State in litigation, transactional matters, and investigations and providing day-to-day legal advice to a wide variety of state entities and officials.
The Attorney General’s Office employs approximately 200 attorneys organized into 21 legal divisions within 6 sections.
Job Overview The Office of the Attorney General is seeking an executive assistant to support the Chief Deputy Attorney General. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with senior leaders and engaging with high-level stakeholders in the legal profession. The executive assistant must expertly manage multiple workstreams, coordinate complex schedules, oversee communications, and spearhead a variety of executive projects with professionalism and precision. The role requires superior organizational and critical-thinking skills, impeccable judgment, and the utmost discretion. Given the fast-paced, collaborative nature of the job, it is in-person, not remote.
Primary Job Duties
Strategically managing complex, demanding schedules and maintaining accurate, detailed calendars
Coordinating meetings and preparing meeting agendas and materials
Making travel arrangements and preparing detailed, accurate expense reports
Serving as liaison between the Chief Deputy and others in the office, clients, and outside parties
Creating and maintaining efficient processes to manage demands and workflows
Preparing and editing correspondence, documents, presentations, and other written materials
Creating and managing electronic filing systems
Implementing a variety of executive projects both independently and with other executive assistants, paralegals, or attorneys in the office
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree
At least 5 years’ experience providing high-level administrative support, preferably to senior leadership or as a paralegal to a law-firm partner, but other relevant experience will be considered
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to balance priorities, be flexible, and work well under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent attention to detail and ability to anticipate needs
