Position Summary Walmart is looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer who will work on Walmart’s strategic store finance experience product. Products that this person will support include financial adjustments and reconciliation for store receiving and claims. About the Team Our International Stores Engineering team builds scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that power multiple global markets. We design and deliver APIs, microservices, and enterprise-grade applications that enable seamless customer experiences across diverse geographies.

What You’ll Do

Provide

technical leadership

for an agile development team of 6–8 engineers, driving design, development, and delivery of features and applications for multiple international markets.

Collaborate with

Product Management ,

Market Operations , and other cross-functional teams to gather requirements, create software design specifications, and provide high-level estimates.

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve

scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, microservices, and components

using technologies such as

Java Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases (Cosmos, MongoDB) .

Perform

design and code reviews , ensuring adherence to best practices and maintainability standards.

Oversee development lifecycles, analyze application logs, maintenance activity data, and performance metrics; evaluate change requests for feasibility and validity.

Track and guide resolution of

critical technical debt

and provide leadership in troubleshooting complex technical issues, including root cause analysis and prevention strategies.

Document code, technical specifications, and instructional materials for team members and stakeholders.

Research and implement

best practices and emerging technologies

to enhance system performance and security.

Share knowledge through

mentoring , technical talks, and design/code reviews.

What You’ll Bring

8+ years

of relevant software engineering experience, including

2–3 years as a technical lead

for small to mid-sized development teams.

Strong

problem-solving ,

ownership ,

communication , and

leadership skills .

Expertise in one or more areas:

Server-side backend development

Distributed and parallel systems

Full-stack development

Scalable enterprise platforms and applications

Application security and incident management

Deep knowledge of

software architecture ,

microservices ,

Java-based APIs , and

systems testing .

In-depth understanding of

NoSQL databases

(Cosmos, MongoDB) and design principles for large-scale, robust platforms.

Familiarity with

system performance ,

application security , monitoring tools, metrics, test automation, and

behavior-driven development (BDD) .

Proven ability to mentor and share knowledge through formal and informal channels.

Experience with

cloud-native architectures

and

CI/CD pipelines .

Exposure to

internationalization/localization

for global platforms.

Knowledge of

Kafka ,

event-driven systems , and

container orchestration (Kubernetes) .

Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related area.
