SwimMAC Carolina is a nationally recognized nonprofit swim club based in Charlotte, NC. Our mission is: "Empowering young people to be champions in life through excellence in swimming." We offer swim lessons and other aquatic programming for both youth and adults, as well as a nationally-ranked competitive swim program, and are now seeking our first dedicated Nonprofit Development Manager to help grow our fundraising efforts and brand visibility.
Position Overview The Nonprofit Development Manager will lead SwimMAC’s fundraising and brand development initiatives. This includes donor relations, campaign creation, alumni engagement, corporate and community partnership management, and communications. The role reports to the Executive Director and works closely with staff, the Board Development Committee, and parent-volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, cultivate, and steward annual, mid-level, and major donors.
Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events.
Develop fundraising materials and donor presentations.
Administer gift tracking, acknowledgement, and donor database management.
Support grant research, writing, and reporting.
Coordinate with the Development Committee and assist in special projects (e.g., MAC’s 50th Anniversary).
Brand & Communication
Serve as liaison to the Development Committee.
Oversee all donor-related communications and direct marketing campaigns.
Manage social media presence; develop content strategy to support engagement and fundraising goals, develop content calendar aligned with SwimMAC meets and events with staff support.
Distribute press releases to local media including SwimMAC success stories, milestones and events.
Ensure all messaging aligns with SwimMAC’s mission and values and is consistent with brand.
Alumni & Community Engagement
Build and maintain a comprehensive alumni database.
Coordinate alumni communications and engagement initiatives.
Administration & Reporting
Recommend and manage a CRM system to support development and sponsorship tracking.
Support budget development and monitor revenue/expense goals.
Provide regular reports on fundraising performance and sponsor activations.
Contribute to website content to maintain accuracy and reflect latest news and data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in development, business, or related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing.
Excellent verbal and written communication; strong storytelling skills.
Strong interpersonal and networking abilities.
Highly organized, collaborative, and self-directed.
Familiarity with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
[Preferred] Background in swimming or passion for the sport.
Work Schedule & Compensation
Full-time, hybrid role consisting of a mix of in-office and work-from-home days with flexibility for events, evenings, and weekends.
Salary and performance bonus: $50-60K based on experience w/ bonus opportunity.
Benefits include 401(k) with employer match following 1 year of full-time employment, and health, dental, vision, and life insurance eligibility after 90 days.
