Job Overview

Associate Vice President of Public Relations and Communication at Broward College, located at Willis Holcombe Center. Working second shift Monday‑Friday. Salary $100,500 – $125,500. Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic public relations campaigns to support the college’s mission, goals and objectives. Lead external communications efforts, writing news releases, fact sheets, op‑ed pieces and social media content. Manage media relations, responding to inquiries, distributing materials before, during and after events, and arranging media interviews with spokespeople. Coordinate internal communication initiatives, crafting copy for scripts, brochures, flyers and the President’s Update newsletter. Serve as Public Information Officer in rapid‑response situations and support the Emergency Management team with the annual crisis communication plan. Build and foster collaborative relationships with departments, community economic development organizations and non‑profit service partners through joint communication campaigns. Lead pre‑event and post‑event communication activities for public relations events, establishing production timetables and reviewing news materials. Oversee the subject matter expert programs and manage subject‑matter‑specific content across college‑wide platforms. Provide leadership and oversight for special institutional events, supervising the Director of Institutional Events. Support the Vice President of Strategic Communication and Marketing with strategic direction for internal communication related to the Office of the President. Qualifications

Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in public relations, media relations or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated ability to write, edit and oversee news releases, fact sheets, op‑ed pieces, and social media content. Experience managing media inquiries and arranging media interviews with spokespeople and executives. Knowledge and experience in crisis communication planning and emergency management. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to craft persuasive messaging for diverse audiences. Benefits
