Role Summary As Lead Copywriter, you’ll build on Dollar Shave Club’s heritage brand tone and edge and solidify how we show up in the written word across every consumer touchpoint—campaigns, packaging, retail, digital, and beyond. You’ll work with freelance partners as needed, ensuring that our work is smart, strategic, and always on brand.
This role isn’t just about writing headlines; it’s about thinking strategically across the entire funnel and crafting copy that connects with consumers from awareness to conversion. You’ll concept and execute omni-channel ideas that tie into broader business goals, ensuring our words work as hard as our creative. You’ll collaborate closely with the Associate Creative Director and other creative partners to ensure our work isn’t just good—it’s the kind of work people remember.

Responsibilities
Own and evolve the brand voice, making sure it’s clear, consistent, and impossible to ignore
Develop omni-channel campaigns and full-funnel activations that move consumers from awareness to loyalty
Concept, write, and edit copy across every touchpoint: 360 campaigns, packaging, retail, digital, social, CRM, and beyond
Manage and mentor freelance talent, ensuring the work is strategic, on brief, and on brand
Review and refine all copy to make sure it’s smart, clear, and consumer-first
Partner with designers, marketers, and product teams to turn briefs into big ideas
Collaborate closely with leadership to align messaging with business strategy and creative vision
Build scalable writing guidelines and processes so the brand sounds like “us” no matter who’s writing
Push creative standards higher—whether it’s a two-word headline or a 360° campaign
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
7+ years of copywriting, proofreading, and creative strategy experience (CPG, ecomm, or agency background preferred)
2+ years managing copywriters or freelancers, with a knack for mentoring talent
A portfolio that proves you can concept, write, and edit across multiple formats and platforms
Experience supporting and growing in-house brands (bonus if it’s in CPG or men’s lifestyle)
Strong creative strategy skills—able to crack a brief with both big ideas and tactical execution
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present work with clarity and conviction
Position Type This is a full-time exempt position.
Work Environment This position is in-office, working out of our HQ in Durham, North Carolina 4x a week.
Salary $110,000-$125,000 + Bonus
