Redwood Materials delivers low‑cost, large‑scale energy storage and produces battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Director of Construction, EPC We operate as a licensed General Contractor, self‑performing industrial construction and launching Redwood Energy—a fast‑deploying, low‑cost grid‑scale battery storage platform. The Director of Construction will lead execution across our flagship battery materials campus in Nevada, South Carolina, and our expanding portfolio of Redwood Energy storage installations nationwide.
Responsibilities
Oversee end‑to‑end construction across Redwood's Nevada and SC campuses and Redwood Energy battery storage deployments.
Lead preconstruction, bidding, leveling, and award process.
Manage all field operations, site logistics, and schedule adherence across multiple concurrent sites.
Ensure project action items are systematically tracked and completed to support project requirements.
Visit project sites regularly.
Build Redwood's internal GC capability—hiring and mentoring superintendents, PMs, schedulers, safety, quality, and project engineers.
Monitor project team cohesiveness and develop action plans to correct issues.
Develop scalable organizational structure, operating procedures, and repeatable delivery frameworks across project types.
Serve as Redwood's lead representative for field construction, acting as the Owner/GC on all major scopes.
Enforce contractor compliance with safety protocols, QA/QC standards, and documentation.
Support inspection readiness, AHJ approvals, and regulatory compliance across state and local jurisdictions.
Maintain project master schedule to ensure conformance to execution strategy and contractual obligations.
Own schedule performance across all construction programs, driving accountability through weekly coordination and look‑ahead planning.
Monitor procurement of all required materials, subcontracts, equipment, and services for cost efficiency and safety.
Monitor construction budgets, change orders, cost trends, and vendor pay applications.
Lead field procurement alignment to ensure material readiness and long‑lead coordination.
Coordinate risk mitigation and corrective action across the project team.
Maintain Redwood’s standing as a General Contractor in Nevada and support licensing for expansion states.
Serve as or support Redwood’s Qualifying Individual for construction licensing across jurisdictions.
Identify and mitigate field risks related to design gaps, constructability issues, safety, or sequencing conflicts.
Bridge Engineering, Procurement, Product, and Operations during design reviews and site execution.
Drive field implementation of Redwood Energy’s storage platform in alignment with product and interconnection teams.
Communicate project status, risks, and critical path decisions clearly to executive stakeholders.
Ensure project continuity in the absence or termination of subordinates or other project staff.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related technical discipline.
15+ years of construction leadership experience, with a mix of industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
Direct experience as an Owner’s Rep or in a self‑perform GC model, including project management and contractor oversight.
Proficiency in all contracting methods—lump sum, GMP, cost plus, unit price construction management, and fee‑based construction—and legal understanding of contractual language.
Proven experience in bidding, leveling, and awarding contractor scopes for major capital programs.
Expertise across civil, structural, architectural, MEPF, and energy systems, including site utilities and balance of plant.
Comprehensive knowledge of design, engineering, and construction phase changes and their impact on cost, schedule, and operations.
Demonstrated leadership of multi‑state execution teams, including remote field staff and traveling superintendents.
Familiarity with licensing requirements, lien laws, inspection readiness, and change management workflows.
Strong command of construction financials—pay apps, forecasting, cost control, and contingency planning.
Field‑level expertise using Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera/MS Project, and collaborative tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed General Contractor or ability to qualify as a Qualifying Individual in NV, SC.
OSHA 30 certified.
PMP or CM‑Lean or CCM certification a plus.
Prior experience in battery, EV, semiconductor, data center, or utility‑scale energy sectors is strongly preferred.
Experience deploying modular, prefabricated, or productized energy systems a major plus.
Experience managing at least one project with full process or production equipment installation within a specific industry type, including mission‑critical, large distribution and manufacturing, equipment installation, and support utility installation.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to bend, lift, and carry objects over 50 lbs.
Must be able to walk up and down stairs carrying weight.
Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
Working Conditions
Environment such as office or outdoors and inclement weather conditions.
Exposures encountered such as hazardous materials, loud noise, fires, or extreme heat/cold.
Essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
May be required to work some weekends or be on‑call as a regular part of the job.
Compensation Full‑time. Salary commensurate with experience.
