Overview The Bloomfield, NJ office of Dewberry is looking for an

Electrical or Civil Engineer with design experience and an interest in electrical design for roadway lighting, traffic signals, and ITS devices . Qualified candidates should have experience with preparing design plans. Familiarity with electrical design and calculations preferred. Traffic signal design, ITS, and communications experience is a plus. Knowledgeable in National Electric Code, AASHTO Roadway Lighting Design Criteria, and associated design manuals is preferred. Experience in ITS and communications is a plus.

Capacity to independently prepare Intersection and Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting designs and familiarity with one or more NJDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, PANYNJ, NJTA or TBTA design standards and practices is preferred. Self-motivated with Good oral and written skills are a necessity.

Responsibilities

Leads analysis, electrical design and preparation of engineering elements, plans, and specifications

Conducts site visits and field inspections of electrical systems

Attends client and contractor meetings and prepare meeting minutes

Assigns tasks to and coordinates with junior level engineers, technicians and administrative staff

Assists in preparing proposals (including Design-Build) determining project schedules, cost estimates, and budget requirements

Qualifications

Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering;

3-5+ years of experience in traffic signal, electrical systems ITS, or highway lighting.

PE license is preferred

Previous design experience of roadway surveillance systems (CCTV, DMS, weather stations, weigh-in-motion sites, travel time systems, etc.) is a plus

Experience in leading electrical design efforts for agencies including NJDOT, NJTA and/or PANYNJ projects is a plus

Familiarity with Visual and/or AGI lighting design software is preferred.

Ideal candidate would have experience preparing technical and cost proposals for the electrical design components of various highway projects, as well as supervising junior engineers in highway lighting report preparation, lighting analysis and lighting design, traffic signal design and communications systems design (wireless and fiber optic)

Must be familiar with MicroStation, or AutoCAD.

Valid Driver’s License is required.

Salary Range The projected range for this position is $91,088 to $117,113 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
