Senior Mechanical Engineer Analyst 2 (Power Uprates) - Nuclear Join Sargent & Lundy as a Senior Mechanical Engineer Analyst 2 (Power Uprates) - Nuclear to lead mechanical analysis for nuclear power uprate projects.

Work Location This hybrid position requires in‑office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.

Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering knowledge to consulting level work for power uprates.

Prepare and review calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.

Create task reports and equipment evaluations that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.

Perform equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection to support the proposed power uprate.

Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.

Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications

B.S. Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.

7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.

Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.

Strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and heat balance calculations.

Proficiency in mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants and knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Excellent technical report writing skills.

Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
