Role Description The Senior Structural Engineer will utilize their expertise in structural design and construction engineering to successfully execute projects in multiple market sectors including Retail and Living Spaces. This position is remote; Arcadis office space is available for individuals who would like to work in an office environment.

Accountabilities

Organize and conduct structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well‑defined scope.

Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents.

Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines and architects, office/project staff, client and sub‑contractors throughout the project life cycle, with clear and concise oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.

Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects.

Function as an Engineer of Record, Task Manager or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and develop and manage plans, permit checklists, scopes of work and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.

Mentor junior structural engineering staff.

Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Business development in the Retail and Living sectors with an emphasis on Client relationships.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience including supervision of elements of large, complex projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) License.

California Structural Engineer License.

Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit software.

Strong structural analysis and design skills using tools such as STAAD, RISA, etc.

Excellent working knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, AISC, etc.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $170,000, based on experience, education, budget, and location.
