Overview Human Resources Director

at Oceans Healthcare, Oceans Behavioral Hospital Broussard. Oversee HR functions including recruitment, payroll, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and performance management across inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services.

Essential Functions

Interprets hospital policies and regulations for new and existing employees.

Coordinates recruitment, interviewing and placement processes, including advertisements and background checks.

Maintains a system of record keeping and personnel files, ensuring compliance.

Completes paperwork for hires, terminations and personnel changes; schedules and implements employee orientation and training programs.

Ensures all employees meet licensure and training requirements such as de‑escalation, CPR, and orientation.

Administers the hospital's performance appraisal and competency evaluation system; assists managers with performance issues and disciplinary action.

Responds to reference and unemployment inquiries and provides accurate information to external companies.

Develops and coordinates programs to improve relations between employees.

Maintains knowledge of HR policy changes and current trends; continues professional development.

Maintains accurate time and attendance records; processes payroll with 100% accuracy; prepares PTO payouts and payroll adjustments.

Prepares and distributes end‑of‑pay period reports to administrators and supervisors.

Acts as liaison for benefit programs and open enrollments; disseminates benefit information and assists with inquiries.

Maintains current Workman’s Compensation records; coordinates claims information with insurance companies.

Submits required corporate information on time and meets departmental deadlines.

Spearheads engagement and retention strategies to align with the company’s core beliefs and mission.

Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Education / Experience

College degree preferred.

5+ years Human Resources experience required.

2+ years payroll experience preferred.

2+ years employee relations experience preferred.

Healthcare experience critical to success.

Qualifications / Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

Versatile, flexible, able to perform in stressful situations.

Strong time‑management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.

Sensitive, respectful communication with diverse groups.

Excellent assertive communication skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize high‑volume workload.

Function with minimal supervision and maintains confidentiality.

Interprets and adheres to company policies and compliance with state, federal, and accrediting bodies.

Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans‑approved behavioral health de‑escalation program.

Work Environment Subject to many interruptions. Pressure from multiple calls and inquiries. High‑paced and stressful environment. Requires spending approximately 90% of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. May be required to travel for meetings.
