As a

Postdoctoral Researcher , you will be a doctoral graduate engaged in a temporary and defined period of mentored advanced research training to enhance the professional skills and research independence needed to pursue your chosen career path. Under the co‑supervision of the principal investigators and in consultation with clinical collaborators, you will perform engineering‑based research applicable to cardiovascular disease as part of an extramurally funded project. You will create computational models from medical imaging data and run simulations to reveal the mechanical stimuli associated with disease progression for patients with calcification of their bicuspid aortic valve and will associate the mechanical stimuli revealed with mechanistic predictors using advanced statistical and laboratory approaches.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, and execute complex research studies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with institutional approvals and laboratory safety protocols.

Participate in discovery projects.

Coordinate research study activities; lead and manage projects.

Oversee organization, synthesis, and analysis of data and findings.

Prepare scientific reports, outcome findings, and scientific manuscripts.

Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff to evaluate/interpret data, develop methodologies, and design and evaluate lab procedures.

May oversee the work of laboratory personnel, including training and development as well as daily work direction, delegation, and establishing priorities.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Fluid and solid mechanics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and statistics.

Documentation, records management, and data utilization.

Sufficient knowledge of the program study area.

Strong sense of initiative and passion for the research area.

Ability to complete tasks requiring independent judgment.

Demonstrate excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Proficiency with computer‑aided design and computational modeling software packages (e.g., SolidWorks, Ansys, Abaqus, Fluent, SimVascular, etc.).

Preferred Schedule Full‑time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications • Minimum education: PhD in a scientific field or MD. • Minimum experience: Two or more years of related experience and a track record of research dissemination through peer‑reviewed journal publications. • Required certification/licensure(s): CITI training within five days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications • Preferred education: Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. • Preferred experience: Familiarity with medical imaging data and computational modeling approaches such as computational fluid dynamics and/or fluid‑structure interaction simulations.
