Position Overview Stormwater Inspector II involves performing site inspections to ensure construction projects comply with approved plans and stormwater regulations. Key responsibilities include verifying the proper installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls and stormwater best management practices (BMPs), documenting findings, and issuing notices for non-compliance.
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections at different construction phases (e.g., grading, paving) to verify conformity with approved plans and specifications.
Observe and document site conditions, take measurements, record deviations, and maintain inspection records.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and clients.
Spend time outdoors at construction sites in various weather conditions, while also completing office work for report writing and coordination.
Qualifications
Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1B certification required.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and specifications.
Knowledge of grading, drainage, and stormwater management principles.
Familiarity with BMPs and erosion/sediment control practices.
Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Previous experience in construction, site inspection, or land development is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Outdoor work environment, exposed to varying field conditions.
Moderate to loud noise levels in active construction and industrial environments.
Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
