Responsibilities

Serves as day‑to‑day lead in implementing integrated plans to advance marketing and communications priorities

Cultivates collaborative working relationships, understanding department priorities, and managing expectations

Exhibits in‑depth knowledge of the organization, its partners, and the media landscape

Fosters relationships with local, regional, and national media as well as media influencers

Elevates problems to superiors and solicits counsel when needed, as appropriate

Oversees quality and operational performance, ensuring flawless execution and deadline adherence

Demonstrates proficiency in writing skills to craft various types of correspondence – press releases, talking points, communications plans, presentations, award submissions, and more

Ability to think strategically, creatively, and in an effective manner while managing multiple projects

Manages a team of two: Brand Communications Sr. Coordinator and Coordinator

Leverages her/his network of media contacts to help advance the business goals of the organization

Contributes to a positive and engaging team and corporate culture

Oversees media subscriptions at the organization

Responsible for providing talking points and reads to broadcast partners on a per‑game basis

Assists in oversight of brand communications strategy and execution for the Hawks’ affiliates (College Park Skyhawks)

Ensures performance expectations, career development plans, and goals are set and reviewed during the formal performance review process for all direct reports

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.

At least 4‑7 years of public relations and media relations experience with both B2C and B2B audiences; a specific focus on any of the following: brand, lifestyle, community, sports, corporate communications, including project and/or account management, is a plus

Two years of employee supervisory experience.

A strategic mindset that utilizes creative problem‑solving to achieve results

Team player; organized, can prioritize in a fluid environment

Self‑starter and decisive yet knows when to approach senior staff when needed

Experience consensus building among senior‑level staff

Experience working in inter‑departmental teams, including multiple marketing partners

Successful track record of helping to build and present concepts/programs and effectively executing programs

Ability to spot digital trends and insights and share with teams in order to capitalize on exposure for the brand

Experience with media monitoring tools, including MuckRack is a plus
