Job Purpose The Associate Head Coach assists the Director of Swimming and Diving in all program operations, including recruiting, retaining, and coaching members of the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams. The Associate Head Coach is responsible for day‑to‑day coaching responsibilities, is expected to meet recruiting and retention goals, and assists with travel coordination, meet management, equipment management, and fundraising.
Principal Accountabilities
Recruit, retain, and graduate successful student‑athletes
Assist in executing recruiting strategies to meet recruitment and retention goals
Collaborate with the Director of Swimming and Diving to ensure academic performance and personal development align with institutional and program goals
Assist the Director with all operational aspects of running a successful swimming and diving program
Demonstrate intercultural competence and ability to work with a diverse population
Maintain professionalism toward student‑athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and the community
Adhere to Howard University, Northeast Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
Attend regular athletic and admission staff meetings
Supervisory Authority Reports to the Director of Swimming and Diving.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Requirements
At least 3‑5 years of collegiate coaching experience.
Salary Range $55,000 – $60,000
Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level
