As the OEM Lab Manager, you will engage with OEM customers, partners, sales, and Lenovo product teams to evaluate, understand, and drive technical requirements for complex OEM solution offerings. Your role will involve leveraging Lenovo’s existing product portfolio and customizing new offerings for unique OEM solutions, developing technical relationships with key alliance partners, suppliers, and integrators, identifying gaps in our portfolio, providing input to product development teams, and engaging in specific testing and certifications. Building strong relationships with manufacturing teams will be crucial to ensure timely project progression through various manufacturing processes. You will act as Lenovo's technical arbiter with customers, external partners, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
Lead and empower a lab engineering team to conduct customer‑driven Proof of Concepts, customer test scenarios, and provide pre‑sales customer support.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to create processes supporting customization efforts for OEM customers.
Work with process control systems (e.g., Windchill, Factsheets, PCRs, Jira).
Manage process execution and release methodologies within the manufacturing environment.
Collaborate with local test engineers (TE), quality engineers (QE), manufacturing engineers (ME), ITC, and special bids teams.
Define test automation processes and solutions for the lab engineering team.
Define process flow for team duties and assign tasks.
Customize and support various Linux distributions.
Architect new ideas for revenue generation through innovative engineering services solutions.
Leverage technologies including Windows OS, Windows IoT, Linux distros, shell scripting, Java, Python, device drivers, BIOS customizations, and Linux kernel.
Summarize and convey ideas and issues to upper management.
Collaborate effectively on a worldwide team with members located in different parts of the world across various time zones.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
5+ years of experience in the PC or related industry.
Past experience managing a technical lab team.
Experience working with third‑party suppliers.
Ability to work in person at the OEM Engineering Lab in Morrisville, NC.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven capacity to navigate and resolve undefined issues.
Ability to create repeatable, efficient processes across teams.
Vision and drive to grow and empower the team.
Understanding of custom services and manufacturing processes.
Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
