Field Leader - Wyoming Conservation Corps - AmeriCorps JOB PURPOSE Field Leaders are half-time AmeriCorps Members here to support our field programs throughout the state as they preform office and field related functions and duties to help support WCC’s recruiting and managing members, fleet of vehicles, hand tools, and support equipment, as well as support WCC field crew needs. This person will assist in maintaining accurate inventories and maintain tools and vehicles to the best of their ability. This person will be assisting in tracking project data and using ArcGIS or other relevant programs to help in project analysis and reporting. Field Leaders are classified as 70% field time and 30% office time.
TERM OF SERVICE January 1st through September 30th, 2026
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with WCC program staff, crew leaders and agency supervisors to plan and prepare educational component for crews
Travel to worksites during ten-day work period, while onsite check –in with agencies about the project, crew, and educational component
Maintain and service tools, trucks, and anything else that needs to be fixed
While on-site give each crew leader and crew member time to check-in and address any issues that may arise and take appropriate action for the situation
Have the authority to remove participants from the worksite, or release them from service if necessary
Assist WCC staff and other participants with volunteer generation and volunteer projects
Carry out planning, purchasing, and training activities, and especially during orientation
Assist WCC program staff in the hiring process of crew members and leaders
Responsible for tool maintenance and equipment purchasing.
Assist WCC staff during ENR 4890
Responsible for daily and weekly documentation of activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED
Other requirements:
Pass FBI background check.
Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strongly developed organizational skills;
Ability to lift heavy loads periodically; this position can be very physical at times;
Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot on a daily basis;
Experience with vehicles and small engines is desirable but not required;
Experience operating hand tools, chainsaws, generators, and other tools related to conservation projects is desired but not required;
Experience driving/backing a trailer is desired but not required;
Must be able to serve on a flexible schedule including evenings, early mornings, and weekends;
Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally, with a diverse audience;
Field time and camping is required;
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
