Responsibilities
Help residents achieve/exceed their personal goals.
Provide structure and emotional support.
Assist in resolving behavioral issues.
Help individuals with personal hygiene.
Complete detailed, accurate documentation.
Transport individuals to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of M R/DD experience OR Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree OR 3 years related experience.
Clean and Valid NYS driver’s license.
Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
Ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult person.
Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed.
Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
Ability to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Hours and Location Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (40 hours). Location: East Islip, NY.
