Reporting to the Director of Recruitment, the Recruiter represents WesternU to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The recruiter performs at a high level of customer service in daily interactions with students and collaborates with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and staff. Under general guidance from the director of admission and the direct supervisor, the recruiter creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreach to businesses and organizations. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability. Experience:
Minimum of three to four years of experience in university admissions and recruitment or a similar recruitment setting. Must have willingness to travel during peak recruiting seasons. A valid driver’s license is required only if driving is necessary; alternative transportation methods are allowed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (continued)
Must be willing and able to travel by plane and automobile to conduct recruitment business. Occasional weekend and evening projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and outside contacts. Requires oral presentation skills. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management programs) and familiarity with electronic communication strategies. Maturity and adaptability to be team oriented while also able to work independently with minimal supervision. Should possess a good understanding of higher education and issues related to student affairs. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact and customer service representative to prospective students/applicants, providing consistent, accurate, and timely information via phone, email, mail, and information sessions; assist with overcoming objections. Meet and exceed identified enrollment goals, including inquiries to applications, applications to accepted, and accepted to enrolled yield goals, contributing to tuition revenue and the university’s financial health. Assist with training on admissions, financial aid, overcoming objections, etc., and train independently on material or technology as needed. Serve as an additional contact when prospective students are unresponsive or may wish to withdraw. Schedule, promote, and lead information meetings for degree programs targeted at prospective students, including information sessions, graduate fairs, transfer fairs, tabling sessions, group tours, and campus visits. Participate in recruitment events at partner institutions and collaborate with institution personnel to market WesternU’s programs and connect with prospective students. Represent the University at transfer and graduate fairs and confer with college counselors, individuals, and student groups. Assist with recruitment presentations and create presentations for partner schools and local businesses within the community. Provide insights to strengthen admissions and recruitment strategies. Meet admissions productivity goals daily, weekly, and quarterly (phone calls, emails, applications, interviews, etc.). Autonomously participate in recruitment activities including campus tours, open houses, info sessions, transfer and graduate fairs, and tabling events. Secure new inquiries through personally developed referrals and direct outreach. Set up one-on-one enrollment appointments and cultivate prospective student relationships via phone and email. Conduct face-to-face and remote outreach to identify adult student prospects and promote the benefits of higher education. Administrative
