Senior Tax Liaison The Senior Tax Liaison will function as the primary connection point between Northern Trust and our external tax services providers. This role involves facilitating effective communication, organizing tax-related information, and problem‑solving for seamless collaboration and service delivery. This role will be responsible for overseeing the conveyance of all required information to our external tax services providers, providing exceptional client service, and supporting clients as needed. Additionally, the Senior Liaison will oversee client relations and participate in governance committees, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.
Major Duties
Oversee the organization and management of tax‑related documents and information to ensure timely and accurate processing
Address and resolve complex issues or discrepancies that arise between the internal liaison team, clients, and external providers
Establish workflows and best practices for communication and completion of distinct types of tax reporting
Participate in governance committees and other oversight mechanisms
Cursory reviews with externally prepared tax reporting to ensure accuracy and provide feedback on processes
Serves as an analytical person and trouble shooter for issues that may arise in the preparation of tax services, responses to audit, and communications with internal client servicing, external providers, and clients as requested
Provide exceptional client servicing, responding to inquiries, and supporting clients with tax‑related matters
Knowledge and Skills
In‑depth experience with the preparation and review of personal, fiduciary, estate, charitable and/or custody tax reporting
Comprehensive understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, particularly those relevant to high‑net‑worth individuals, families, and charitable organizations.
Excellent verbal and written skills for consulting with internal partners, external vendors, and other stakeholders
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadline effectively
Expertise in effectively managing processes and leveraging technology
Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and/or relevant work experience
Experience in Wealth Management and/or Asset Servicing
Background within at least one tax area (charity, fiduciary, asset servicing, personal, estate, custody)
Proven experience in client servicing and managing external vendor relationships
Salary Range $83,100 - $141,300 USD
Benefits Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits.
