Job Description
Coordinate and administer all operational aspects to provide a quality environment for the hospital
Monitors department productivity to insure effective use of human resources. Structures work functions to ensure proper staff and resource utilization. Functions include environmental services, building perimeter grounds, waste disposal, pest control, linen distribution, meeting room set‑up, and furniture moving
Identifies areas for operations improvement and implements proactive changes
Plans and supervises the administrative and operational functions to maximize efficiency of resources and meet regulatory requirements
Assists with hiring, evaluates, motivates, trains, disciplines, and terminates staff as appropriate. Assists the Senior Manager with performance reviews for staff. Communicates performance ratings and salary adjustments
Implements policies, procedures, and practices that meet standards for accreditation and licensure by achieving successful inspections by Joint Commission, IDPH, OSHA, EPA, etc.
Coordinates the setup and configuration of tables and chairs for events
Presents and participates in Infection Control and Quality Assurance committee meetings
Participates in the Environment of Care committee meetings in the absence of the manager
Ensures new chemicals are approved prior to being brought into the building, and that SOS sheets are received
Helps maintain and adjust the Hazardous Waste Management Plan as needed
Development and maintain relationships with other departments, hospital‑wide, in order to meet department goals and objectives
Works with other departments and Patient Care Units on improvement of services and/or expansion of services
Participates in other hospital committees as needed
Responsible for enhancing the image of the department and the hospital through quality performance and customer satisfaction
Implements an effective quality assurance program for Environmental Services department. Ensures high ratings in customer satisfaction surveys
Responsible for ensuring department compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e. federal, state, city, Joint Commission, IDPH, EPA, OSHA, etc.
Ensures that standards of practice are developed, understood, implemented, and evaluated within the department
Responsible for the development of department personnel
Oversees the educational activities of both core department staff and patient care staff to encourage and facilitate employee development and growth
Responsible for the maintenance of the hospital linen program. Implement daily par levels for each linen customer. Adjusts the par levels to meet the changing needs of the hospital.
Works with external service vendors, laundry service contractor, landscape contractor, window washing and pressure washing contractor. All invoices will be reviewed by EVS Supervisor and submitted to Finance for payment
Plans and supervises assigned staff toward accomplishment of La Rabida's mission including: recruitment and scheduling; training and development; counseling/coaching; appraisal and recognition; and recommending salary, promotional, disciplinary, and other personal actions in accord with existing policies and procedures
Plans and supervises the department budget to ensure responsible controls over, and efficient utilization of, hospital resources
Understands that they, and the staff they works with, may be exposed to Protected Health Information (PHI), and ensures that they, as well as the staff they supervise, treat PHI according to the Hospital's policies and procedures
Qualifications
Associate Degree in related field or equivalent years of experience in the field. 3‑5 years of experience in Healthcare Environmental Services supervision is also preferred.

Ability to work well with others, and to make sound and timely decisions. Leadership, motivational, and team building skills. Organizational and planning skills
