Job Details Hiring Department: Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences | Location: Chicago, IL | FTE: 1 | Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7.5 hours | Shift: Days | # of Positions: 1 | Workplace Type: Hybrid | Posting Close Date: October 20, 2025 | Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 Annual.

Responsibilities

Manages grants and contracts, supporting Principal Investigators in grant proposal development, budget preparation, and post-award accounting through grant closeout.

Verifies and audits post-award expenditures to ensure accuracy and compliance during financial closeout.

Manages all financial operations for the department, ensuring compliance with current policies and procedures across all business and finance applications.

Provides oversight of accounting functions for state, indirect cost recovery (ICR), grant, and gift accounts.

Acts as Department Card Manager, reconciling and approving transactions in accordance with University rules and policy.

Supervises, administers, and monitors the card program; issues new card applications and provides necessary training.

Handles day‑to‑day accounting functions, including purchase orders in iBuy, account coding, and reimbursement processing in Emburse Enterprise.

Processes and approves payments of invoices, PO requisitions, and travel reimbursements.

Assists with preparation of internal and external contracts required by the department, collaborating with campus units and funding agencies as needed.

Processes all contracts within the Contracts+ system.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in budgeting, financial management, or closely related experience, or coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, statistics, or a closely related field measured by semester hour conversion table.

Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months; Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three years.

Work experience in budgeting, financial management, or closely related experience.
