The Illinois State Police (ISP) Forensic Sciences Command (FSC), part of the Division of Forensic Services, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Management Systems Specialist position. This individual will assist overseeing various statewide forensic and evidence information management systems and other technical operations. This leader provides end‑user support and develops various methods to retrieve data from the systems for various laboratory management studies. The ideal candidate should be a critical thinker, a good communicator, and organized. This position will work cooperatively with various forensic science laboratory staff throughout the state. Essential Functions

Serves as a "front end" or applications specialist of the information system. Conducts in‑depth management studies involving extensive technical research and analysis of functions within the system. Assists in the development and installation of new and revised agency programs. Plans, directs, and administers training programs for applicable personnel on the use of the information system. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in business or public administration or a closely related field, preferably with coursework in systems analysis, accounting, computer science, and statistics; requires two years of professional experience in public or business administration. OR a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a closely related field, preferably with coursework in systems analysis, computer science, and statistics; requires four years of experience directly related to the development, maintenance, and coordination of a computer‑based management information system. Preferred Qualifications

At least four years of experience in applying modern concepts of scientific management, accounting techniques to develop, modify, maintain, and interpret management information systems to accurately reflect program status. At least four years of experience in recognizing and solving problems in a complex management information system. At least four years of experience working with complex data from computer reports. At least four years of experience conducting complex management systems studies to accommodate information requirements in the area assigned. At least two years of working knowledge of IT organizational functions, structuring of programs and information systems, and communication between organizational entities. At least four years of experience establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships with co‑workers. Conditions of Employment

Successful completion of initial and ongoing, random alcohol and drug screens. Successful completion of a background investigation. Successful completion of a polygraph examination. Ability to maintain credibility in providing courtroom testimony, including adherence to Illinois State Police’s ethical standards and policies. Ability to travel on an as‑needed basis.
