Associate Consultant at Harba Solutions Inc. Senior Cost Accountant
The Senior Cost Accountant plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing operations through comprehensive financial analysis and strategic cost management. This position is responsible for evaluating production processes, identifying key cost drivers, and providing actionable insights that enhance operational efficiency and overall financial performance.
Key Responsibilities Analyze manufacturing cost variances and determine root causes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Develop and present strategic recommendations to management that drive financial and operational improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, validate, and interpret cost data. Lead product costing initiatives for both new product introductions and existing product lines. Identify and resolve cost accounting discrepancies through detailed analysis and collaboration with stakeholders. Support decision-making through targeted financial modeling, forecasting, and management reporting.
Essential Duties and Role Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and improve cost accounting systems, documentation, and reporting processes. Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings and process optimization. Prepare and conduct internal cost audits to ensure compliance, accuracy, and data integrity. Evaluate changes in goods and services to assess their impact on total manufacturing costs. Analyze production costs and prepare detailed reports comparing standard versus actual costs. Create and maintain accurate product cost estimates for both new and current products. Audit and verify general ledger entries to ensure accuracy and proper cost classification. Report on profit margins, cost trends, and variance analysis to support business performance reviews. Evaluate weekly manufacturing variances, including PPV, labor and overhead absorption, and inventory valuation; partner with operations to drive continuous improvement. Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead allocation. Prepare and review month-end journal entries, investigating any anomalies or inconsistencies. Reconcile inventory accounts monthly and resolve unreconciled variances. Support the development and implementation of inventory reserve policies; perform monthly reserve analysis. Establish plant expense guidelines to ensure proper classification and control of expenditures. Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and ensuring timely completion of financial deliverables. Support annual financial audits related to inventory, cost accounting, and standard costing. Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support strategic business initiatives and investment decisions. Perform detailed inventory analyses for excess, obsolete, and at-risk materials to maintain accurate inventory provisions. Identify opportunities to improve cash flow and liquidity by optimizing inventory levels. Participate in quarterly cycle counts with Supply Chain and conduct root cause analysis to enhance inventory accuracy.
