Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This position is 60 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, for 12‑hour shifts, and every third weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more. About this Unit: The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is a fast‑paced 30‑bed surgical specialty unit focused on delivering patient‑centered care through strong multidisciplinary collaboration. The team manages a diverse mix of complex surgical and medical patients, including those recovering from vascular, thoracic, and open‑heart procedures, as well as cardiac and respiratory cases requiring advanced monitoring. With telemetry capabilities and a progressive training approach, this unit offers a supportive environment for both RNs and nursing support staff to grow their skills and thrive in high‑acuity care. Job Responsibilities
The Nursing Station Technician is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, reordering and stocking supplies, performing clerical and transcription duties, and coordinating the flow of communication on the unit. The NST works under the direction of the professional nurse and may receive patient assignments based on unit needs and manager/charge nurse discretion. The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast‑paced unit. Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests Setting up and maintaining patient rooms Ordering and stocking supplies Performs other tasks as needed. Required Qualifications
License/Certification/Registration Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants must be able to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program. And one or more of the following: Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program. Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home care, or acute care setting (appropriate roles include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician). Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program. Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position. Benefit Overview
