Koniag IT Systems LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Server Engineer to support KITS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This is a hybrid opportunity, requires 3days onsite and 2days remote. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. We are looking for a highly qualified, experienced and self‑motivated individual to perform the duties of an Sr. Sever Engineer to support a potential future business opportunity located in Washington, DC.

The ideal Advanced Sever Engineer will: Join our team supporting enterprise server infrastructure. This highly skilled professional will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex server environments, with a focus on virtualization, disaster recovery, and enterprise‑level systems.

The Senior Server Engineer will provide expert‑level support for server infrastructure and related technologies. Primary responsibilities include:

Design and implement complex server solutions including enterprise virtualization environments

Support server migration projects and datacenter modernization initiatives

Provide high‑availability and disaster recovery solutions

Perform system performance analysis and optimization

Develop and implement Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions

Create detailed documentation for server systems and architectures

Establish and maintain procedures for ensuring system reliability and security

Research and implement emerging server technologies

Automate server management processes using PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools

Provide technical guidance to junior server engineers and administrators

Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation for critical system support

Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure integrated solutions

Support audit requirements and compliance initiatives

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Equivalent experience is acceptable

7+ years' experience with enterprise server technologies and architectures

5+ years' experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V)

Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)

Required Skills and Competencies:

Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022)

Advanced understanding of virtualization technologies and best practices

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and management

Experience with high‑availability configurations and disaster recovery planning

Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions

Experience with monitoring and management tools for enterprise server environments

Understanding of networking concepts as they relate to server infrastructure

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Base‑level certification (CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+)

Core certification (MCSA, MCSE, VMware VCP or equivalent)

Desired Skills and Competencies:

Experience in government IT environments

Knowledge of security best practices for server environments

Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Familiarity with infrastructure as code concepts (Terraform, Ansible)

Experience with server hardware from major vendors (Dell, HP, Cisco)

ITIL certification or knowledge of ITIL processes
