Job Description The Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands is a Tenure-Track position. The Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands will direct the Monarch Marching Band, Basketball Band, Symphonic Band, and hold additional teaching responsibilities. The position will plan and manage the athletic band budget overseen by the Director of Bands. The role requires active engagement in teaching, research/creative activity, and university service.
Duties of the position
Monarch Marching Band: oversee recruitment, selection of auditioned student leadership, plan field shows, write and/or hire drill design and arrangement of music, plan and teach effective rehearsals, oversee/supervise instructors for Color Guard, Drumline, and other staff positions including Graduate Assistants.
Basketball Band: direct the majority of Men's and Women's home basketball games, including any postseason tournament travel; serve as primary contact for basketball band decisions; collaborate with the Director of Bands to develop a comprehensive band department and liaison with Department of Athletics.
Additional teaching responsibilities: conduct the Symphonic Band in rehearsals and performances, possible teaching of Marching Band Techniques, Music Education Instrumental Methods, and other related coursework aligned with the Director's field of expertise.

Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
Evidence of experience teaching Marching Band at the university level.
Evidence of professional or university level conducting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience Teaching Marching Band in a High School setting.
Evidence of three or more years teaching Marching Band at the University level.
Evidence of drilling writing and music arranging experience.
Evidence of three or more years of professional experience and/or university teaching experience in the field of conducting.
