STS Technical Services is actively seeking an experienced
Part 135 Director of Maintenance
to oversee the maintenance, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance of all aircraft operated under the company’s Part 135 certificate. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring operational control, safety, and efficiency across all maintenance programs and personnel.
Job Objective: The Director of Maintenance will manage all aspects of aircraft maintenance operations to ensure full compliance with FAA regulations and company standards. This role provides strategic leadership, coordinates directly with the FAA, manages technical documentation, oversees personnel training, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the highest levels of safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain close liaison with senior leadership to provide aircraft status updates and forecast downtime
Ensure all aircraft are maintained per FAA regulations, airworthiness directives, and company policies
Exercise operational control of aircraft listed in Operations Specifications D085
Oversee inspection, repair, overhaul, and modification activities for aircraft, engines, and components
Develop, implement, and enforce maintenance policies, procedures, and safety standards
Manage maintenance reporting per 14 CFR 135.415 and 135.417, including FAA correspondence
Supervise the MEL management program and ensure timely correction of deferred items
Review and approve inspection programs, conformity documentation, and MEL changes
Ensure maintenance personnel are properly trained, qualified, and have access to all necessary manuals and data
Coordinate with FAA representatives and other regulatory bodies as needed
Support maintenance training programs and continuous improvement initiatives
Approve purchasing of maintenance materials and equipment
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Expert knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, 119, 135, and 145
Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance operations and FAA compliance
Proven leadership and decision-making skills
Ability to manage personnel, scheduling, and maintenance forecasting
Skilled in FAA documentation, Operations Specifications, and certification processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic maintenance tracking systems
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Education & Experience:
Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required
Minimum 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance with direct involvement in Part 135 operations
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business, or related field preferred
Experience with FAA Part 145 repair stations and STC certification processes
Work Schedule & Travel:
Full‑time, Monday–Friday (40+ hours)
On‑call as needed
Up to 25% travel to customer or operational locations
