THE ROLE AMD is searching for talented and motivated individuals to support our open‑source, GPU‑compute language runtime libraries of the AMD ROCm™ platform. As part of the Language Runtime group in AMD AI GPU Software, you will help build the core compute language runtime powering artificial intelligence and high‑performance computing applications across workstations, data centers, and supercomputers. This role also involves direct collaboration with customers to understand their requirements, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and ensure successful deployment of AMD technologies.
THE PERSON The ideal candidate excels in agile, distributed teams, communicating clearly and working effectively under pressure. With a strong focus on automation and streamlining development operations, you manage clusters and systems to support global CI workflows. Passionate about AI and software engineering, you lead complex issue resolution and collaborate seamlessly across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
Apply a data‑minded approach to target optimization efforts
Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring‑ups
Debug and fix existing issues, including customer‑reported problems, and research alternative, more efficient solutions
Interface directly with customers to understand requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure successful deployment
Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with peers, partners, and customers
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Strong object‑oriented programming background, preferably in C/C++
Proven ability to write high‑quality, maintainable code with strong attention to detail
Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
Familiarity with Linux and Windows OS development environments
Hands‑on experience with debugging tools, profilers, and source control systems (e.g., GitHub), especially in resolving customer‑reported issues
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interface directly with customers and cross‑functional teams
Motivating leader with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
