Job Description The 5-Axis CNC Programmer is responsible for developing and optimizing complex CNC programs for 5-axis machining centers. This role requires expertise in CNC programming, advanced knowledge of machining techniques, and proficiency in using CAD/CAM software to produce high-precision parts and components. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development:

Create and modify CNC programs for 5-axis machining centers using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, CATIA).

Develop detailed setup instructions and tooling specifications for machining processes.

Optimize existing programs to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance part quality.

Machine Setup and Operation:

Set up and configure 5-axis CNC machines, including loading and aligning workpieces and tooling.

Conduct test runs and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate and efficient machining.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machining processes, tooling, or program errors.

Technical Expertise:

Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

Utilize knowledge of materials, cutting tools, and machine capabilities to select appropriate machining parameters.

Monitor and inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with engineers, designers, and production staff to ensure alignment on project goals and specifications.

Provide technical support and training to operators and other team members as required.

Document and communicate program changes, setup procedures, and any deviations from standard practices.

Quality Assurance:

Adhere to quality control procedures and standards to ensure high-precision output.

Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and tooling to maintain optimal performance.

Review and interpret measurement reports to ensure parts meet tolerance and quality requirements.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC programming or machining preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a CNC programmer with a strong focus on 5-axis machining centers.
