About the Role A confidential defense engineering leader is searching for an experienced
Release Train Engineer (RTE)
to drive Agile delivery across a
mission-critical autonomous systems program
supporting U.S. defense initiatives.
This position leads a complex
Agile Release Train (ART)
involving
multiple vendors, government partners, and cross‑functional engineering teams . The RTE will orchestrate program execution, coaching Agile processes, optimizing flow, and ensuring mission delivery using
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
principles.
This is a
high-impact role
with exposure to complex AI‑enabled mission platforms, robotics, and national security technology programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Agile Release Train execution and alignment across engineering, program, and government stakeholders
Facilitate
PI Planning, ART syncs, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt
events
Remove delivery roadblocks and improve Agile execution efficiency
Ensure program increment objectives align with mission goals
Coach Scrum Masters and Agile teams in SAFe practices
Manage ART‑level metrics, reporting, and risk mitigation
Foster Lean‑Agile culture and continuous improvement
Collaborate with program leadership, engineering, systems, and mission customers
Required Qualifications
Experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE)
or Agile Program Delivery Lead
Strong background in
Scaled Agile (SAFe)
implementation
Experience leading program increments and Agile delivery at scale
Exceptional communication and leadership skills
Active Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Preferred
SAFe RTE, SAFe SPC, SAFe SA, or related Agile certifications
Experience in
DoD, defense contracting, aerospace, command & control (C2), ISR, robotics, or autonomous systems
Experience working with
Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, or similar Agile tools
Engineering or technical program delivery experience
