Position Overview

The Engagement Director will lead key programs to strengthen engagement among Marquette alumni, parents and friends. This position serves to enhance relationships with some of the university’s most influential benefactors through thoughtful execution of engagement and athletic programs in conjunction with university partners. The position will work collaboratively to lead broad-based, high-end and virtual programs from inception to execution – including strategic planning, event coordination, volunteer management and staffing Marquette benefactors and leaders. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid work arrangement with time worked both on campus as well as remotely. Duties and Responsibilities

Partner with Development, Alumni Engagement and Athletics to identify, plan and execute high-end and broad-based annual programs that engage alumni, parents, and friends, and cultivate philanthropic support of the university. Sustain strong partnerships across the University Advancement division and Athletics to infuse giving opportunities and coordinated efforts to move philanthropic relationships forward. Enhance relationships with some of the university’s most influential benefactors. 2. Lifelong Learning

Develop virtual and/or hybrid programming that aligns with university priorities. Help lead virtual sessions through the Alumni Association’s popular

platform, sharing expertise and insights with the Marquette community. 3. Engagement Programming and Additional Volunteer Management

Partner with University Advancement and Engagement to identify, plan and execute high-end, broad and signature programming that engages alumni, parents, friends and students and cultivates philanthropic support of the university. Engage alumni through targeted communications, promotions, and event opportunities. Design curated programmatic and communication touches with responsibilities to include invitation design and list development, promotion planning and implementation, program ideation and management of event speakers, coordinating event logistics directly or in conjunction with campus partners, preparing materials to staff university leaders, staffing events (including travel where relevant) and coordinating post-event follow-up. Integrate university messages; align university priorities through event programming. Sustain strong partnerships across the division to infuse giving opportunities and coordinated efforts to move philanthropic relationships forward. Forecast events and budgetary needs. Stay informed on current university initiatives, research and educational programs, and activities. Attend university events and volunteer meetings, often during evenings and weekends. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

At least 5 years of event planning, high-level staffing and volunteer management experience A proven track record of strategic, entrepreneurial and creative success Demonstrated ability to thrive in a culture that is results-oriented and fast paced Ability to build strong collaborative relationships across a complex organization Excellent written and oral communication skills Budget oversight and management skills A commitment to Marquette’s character as an urban institution, its goals, mission, and Jesuit Catholic tradition The ability to travel; evening and weekend hours Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
